Volume 4, Number 2, Spring 2004

From the Editor

In spring 2003, the Journal Editorial Board of Directors voted unanimously to change the name to the International Journal of Modern Engineering (IJME). With this change, a new logo was designed and approved by the Board. Subsequently, the entire Journals archive was modified to reflect the new logo and name. We are now pleased to announce that the journal has acquired its new domain address, http://www.ijme.us.

The national recognition for the Journal continues to grow due to the increasing number of high quality manuscripts we receive for each issue. As numbers of high quality manuscripts have increased, the review process has become even more rigorous. Most journals use two or three reviewers for each article but IJME now utilizes four or five reviewers per manuscript, making us one of the most selective journals. The manuscript acceptance rate for current issue was 20%.

The articles published in the IJME in 2003 are listed by Professor Marilyn Dyrud in the 2003 Engineering Technology Education Bibliography published in the Fall 2004 issue of the Journal of Engineering Technology (JET).

With great pleasure, we wish to announce that Professor Robert Herrick and Dr. Dhushy Sathianathan have joined the IJME as members of its Board of Directors. Professor Robert Herrick is the ECET Department Head at Purdue University. Dr. Sathianathan is the Head of the School of Engineering Design, Technology, & Professional Programs (SEDTAPP) at The Pennsylvania State University. In addition, we have added 35 new members to the IJME International Board of Reviewers. Also, we are pleased to have Mr. Hadi Allameh as new web master. We wish to welcome all of them. The editorial board also wishes to express its deepest gratitude to our production editor, Dr. Kristin D. Walker for her outstanding work and dedication to the Journal.

We hope you will enjoy our current issue and continue to support the Journal. As always we welcome your suggestions and comments.
