Volume 1, Number 2, Spring 2001

As we conclude our first year of publication, it is necessary to review our mission statement and goals. The 21st Century Engineer Journal was created with ultimate goal of becoming a highly selective international journal that covers topics that appeal to a broad readership of engineering and engineering technology fields. As we expand our readership base and national exposure, we are moving closer to achieving our ultimate goal.

Even though this publication was created as an online journal, we plan to become a print journal in the near future. Therefore, we implemented a rigorous and detailed review process undertaken by other nationally recognized and respected print journals. We have also assembled a strong and distinguished international editorial board to ensure that top quality papers are published. Recently we were fortunate that several highly respected individuals from recognized international and national universities joined our editorial board. The addition of these new members will enhance our reputation.

For current issue we received a large number of manuscripts, but due to our very competitive review process, only four papers were selected by the reviewers for their quality and significance. These papers went through a detailed peer-review process and thorough editorial review process. However, we want to encourage those authors whose papers were not selected for this issue to revise their manuscript according to suggestions made by reviewers and submit them for the next issue. The manuscript acceptance rate for publication in the 21st Century Engineer is currently at 35%. We hope you enjoy this issue and continue to promote and support our journal.
