Formatting Instructions

Only Microsoft Word (.doc) 98 or Word 2003 document will be accepted (Do not use Word 2007) and must be formatted as follows:

  1. Title Page
    • Paper Identification Number and Session Code
Your paper has been assigned to one of the three conference divisions: engineering (ENG), engineering technology (ENT) or industrial technology (IT).  Your paper has also been assigned an identification number and session code (e.g., Paper #049, ENG 101) by the division chair.  These numbers MUST appear in the upper right-hand corner of your paper, right-justified with a 1-inch margin above and a 1-inch margin on the right. Times New Roman typeface is required and must be bold-faced with a 12–point font.

You must also include this code in the subject line of all of your correspondence with your division chair or your session chairs when you submit your paper for review.

    • Title of the Paper
Below the session code should be a space followed by the title.  The title must be centered with at least 1-inch margins on the left and the right. Times New Roman typeface is required and must be bold-faced with a 14-point font.
    • Author and Affiliation
Below the title of the paper should again be a space followed by the author’s name(s). If there are multiple authors, they must be divided by commas. The affiliation(s) must be directly below the author’s name(s) and should include email address(es). If there are multiple affiliations due to multiple authors, they must be separated.   Times New Roman typeface is required and must be a 12-point font.
    • Footer
The following footer should be used on every page of your paper. This footer must be a 10-points and in italics:

Proceedings of The 2008 IAJC-IJME International Conference
    ISBN 978-1-60643-379-9

Please note that because of the new ISBN number, the footer has been changed to IAJC-IJME rather than NAIT-IJME.

  2. Body of the Paper (Times New Roman, 12-point font)
    • Abstract: An abstract is required and cannot exceed 300 words.  Below the author’s name(s) should be TWO blank spaces followed by the word “Abstract”.  Another blank space must follow the word “Abstract” before the start of the text.  The abstract must have 1.25” left and 1” right margins.
    • Headings
Headings are not required, but can be included. If used, headings (bold-faced, 12-point font) must be left justified and lowercase. There may be only one blank space between the heading and the paragraph.
    • Page Numbering
The pages should not be numbered.
    • Word Document Page Setup
Except as noted otherwise, all text must be Times New Roman with a 12-point font.
Top = 1", Bottom = 1", Left = 1.25", and Right = 1". This is the default setting for Microsoft Word.
    • Tables and Figures
Center all tables and figures.  Captions for tables must be centered above the table with one blank space between the table and its caption.  Captions for figures must be centered below the figure with one blank space between the figure and its caption.

  3. Bibliographic Information (following the body of the paper)
Between the end of the text and the bibliography there must be 4 blank spaces.  The bibliography must have the same margins and font size as the body of the paper. The referencing requirement is to list and number each reference when referring to them in the text (e.g. [1], [2], ...).
  4. Biographical Information (following the bibliographic information)
Between the bibliography and biography there must be 4 blank spaces.  The biography must have the same margins and font size as the body of the paper. Consider each author as a separate paragraph, skipping one line between each author.  The author's name(s) must be in capital letters, followed by up to 4 lines of text per author.
